If you’re flighty or fickle with your skincare routine, listen up. One of the most important factors in an effective regime is consistency. It can take weeks for certain skincare products to deliver visible results to the skin, to it pays to be patient…
Read on for our top tips on curating, and sticking to, a worthwhile skin routine.
Tip 1. Cleanse twice a day, Every day.
You would be forgiven for thinking you could eschew a morning cleanse – after all, your skin was clean when you went to bed, right? In fact, a morning cleanse is just as essential as your evening cleanse. This is because the skin continues to produce oil as you sleep, meaning a film of sweat and sebum has likely developed by the time you wake. So instead of hitting the snooze button once more, make a little time to properly prepare your skin before heading out of the door each morning.

Tip 2. Cleanse after showering.
It’s tempting to save time by slathering on a cleanser mid-shower, but there are many reasons why this isn’t recommended. Firstly, the temperature of your shower water will be considerably higher than the optimum temperature for face cleansing (see last week’s challenge for a reminder.) Secondly, cleansing at the sink after showering ensures there’s no residue from your shampoo and other products left on the skin. It may add a couple of minutes onto your morning routine, but trust us – it’s worth it.

Tip 3. Added extras.
Short of time in the morning, and finding it hard to fit in every step? No matter how quickly you need to be out the door, all it takes it a little clever planning. For example, try smoothing a morning Skin Bliss capsule onto cleansed and toned skin before brushing your teeth – by the time you’re done, your skin will have absorbed the oil and be ready for moisturiser.
Tip 4. Turn routine into ritual.
We all know that falling asleep in our make-up is one of the cardinal skincare sins, but sometimes a hectic daily routine simply gets the better of us. To avoid drifting off with a face full of foundation, make your cleansing routine one of the first things you do when you walk through the door. Not only will the ritual prove a relaxing way to let go of the day, it’ll give the serums and oils that follow a full evening to sink into the skin and work their magic before you hit the pillow.
